These include photovoltaic solar energy systems on roofs at the Porter Square and Wellesley centers, high-reflective white roof membrane systems, solar powered trash compactors, customer recycling programs, LED parking lot lighting, and designated car-sharing parking spaces.
Gravestar has an active program with new and existing tenants to install upgraded HVAC systems, which maximize energy efficiency. In recent years, Gravestar has installed bike racks and electric vehicle charging stations in parking areas and has planted drought-resistant landscaping in common areas.
Greenworks Building LEED Renovation
In 2008, Gravestar received LEED certification for the third floor interior renovation of the Greenworks Building. A former rubber manufacturing plant and warehouse, the building was renovated with environmentally friendly materials and systems and now has operable windows, direct and diffused natural light, and a bike storage area for building tenants.
